Is the coating resistant? With the pressurized water jet test, you can test the resistance of coated test specimens to loss of adhesive strength. Our fully automatic, professional test chambers are designed in accordance with current standards and offer you the best conditions for testing surfaces and components under realistic conditions.

Each test is performed using a defined high-pressure water jet that is directed specifically at the test specimen – often after the surface has been scratched. The chamber simulates extreme loads such as those that occur during high-pressure cleaning. This method was originally developed in response to complaints in the automotive industry, e.g., after cleaning vehicles with high-pressure cleaners.
- Typical test parameters that can be flexibly adjusted are:
- Adhesion strength of the coating
- Distance and angle of the nozzle to the test specimen
- Volume flow, water pressure, and test time
- Geometry of the nozzle and impact surface
- Temperature of the water jet
- Pre-treatments such as climate, heat, or stone chip simulation
Evaluation

The evaluation is carried out both visually and metrologically. The detachment of the coating is documented – e.g., based on the area, depth, and type of damage. This test is particularly important in the automotive industry for assessing the resistance of paintwork and functional coatings – even on complex substrates such as metallized plastic or on safety-relevant components.
All relevant test parameters are automatically recorded during the test, ensuring transparent and auditable documentation.

Our pressurized water jet chambers can be individually configured to reliably perform realistic stress tests in accordance with automotive standards:
- Pendulum stroke for water jet (Volvo standard): Simulates the oscillating water jet in accordance with Volvo specifications for reproducible test conditions.
- Pendulum stroke for the sample (Ford standard): Moves the test specimen during the test in accordance with Ford standards – ideal for realistic load simulation.
- Dispensing device with ball valve and collection container: Allows precise measurement and dosing of the amount of water used for standard-compliant tests.
- Measuring device for measuring the force curve of the nozzle: Precisely determines the pressure and force curve of the water jet – for documented, repeatable test results.
- Room portal for moving the nozzle in the X-Y-Z direction: Enables flexible positioning and movement of the nozzle in all spatial axes for variable test configurations.
- Robot for free positioning of the nozzles: Offers maximum flexibility for complex test sequences – ideal for application-specific and automated test programs
